About Us

The Michigan Democratic Party Black Caucus was established by the late Senator David Holmes of Detroit. Its mission is multifaceted:

  • Supporting and Promoting African Americans for Political Office: The caucus actively encourages African Americans to run for political positions, providing them with the necessary support and resources.

  • Promoting Pro-African American Policies: It advocates for policies that benefit the African American community, aiming to address historical disparities and create a more equitable society.

  • Addressing Political Concerns: The caucus engages with the specific political issues faced by African Americans, amplifying their voices and advocating for change.

  • Educating African Americans: By providing information and awareness, the caucus empowers African Americans to participate in the political process and make informed decisions.

WCDP Black Caucus

The Washtenaw County Democratic Party - Black Caucus (WCDP Black Caucus) is committed to creating a strong local foundation. Our mission centers around several key objectives:
